GRINCHY GREETING: Like sleighbells and candy canes, a visit from the Grinch is practically a holiday tradition at Beaverton Elementary. A MAJOR DEAL: Beaverton math teacher Kossi Komlassan woke up a Captain in the Michigan Army National Guard this morning, but he'll go to bed with a new title. BJSHS was the ceremonial site for Komlassan's promotion to Major this afternoon, and he was surrounded by his family, his lieutenant colonel and the entire sophomore class he instructs every day. As Operations Officer for the 119th Field Artillery Regiment - AKA the Red Lions - Komlassan knows all about leadership, commitment and getting the job done well, and it was a proud day for the entire district.. BUS CHAT: It's not really possible to overemphasize proper school bus safety and behavior, so BES Principal Shawna Hartwell brought each grade out to a bus this morning for a refresher course. Topics included keeping one's hands to oneself, appropriate language and volume and the correct method to cross in front of the bus. Hartwell also introduced Bus Bucks, a good behavior incentive that can be redeemed with teachers for fun and prizes. #SafetyFirst #GoBeavers

MAKE A DENTAL NOTE: Parents and guardians, don’t forget that the Dental Bus will be making its annual visit to Beaverton Schools Nov. 18-20, providing kids with the opportunity for checkups, cleanings and X-rays as needed. Students in grades K-8 were given consent forms to bring home, and those need to be returned to the school ASAP; if you need a new form, stop by the school office. #DentalHealth
