THE STUDENTS SPEAK: It's Teacher Appreciation Week and our students have some thoughts. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/RE4mPSH0etA. #ThanksTeachers #GoBeavers

SHOWTIME: Don't miss Beaverton Elementary's Spring Music Concert this Thursday. The kids have been working hard and it's time to light the lights. The action starts at the BES gym with Grades 2 and 3 performing at 5:30 p.m. They'll be followed by Grades 4 and 5 starting at 6:45 p.m. C'mon out and enjoy! #GoBeavers

IT'S GO TIME: When you vote on the CTE Millage renewal request Tuesday, please remember a couple things. First: The renewal request is just that - a RENEWAL. That means passage won't increase your taxes - not one bit. Second: This year, thanks to CTE, 42 percent of Beaverton juniors and seniors are getting hands-on, real-world training in one of 11 skilled trades or occupations that produce extremely employable young adults for industries throughout our community. Third: Since the CTE millage was first approved by voters in 2016, more than 500 Beaverton students have been served in the program, launching careers and flooding the local workforce with trained, experienced ready-to-work employees. And fourth: Everything else you could possibly want to know about CTE is available by scanning the code or visiting CTEitsWorking.com/millage. Please vote Tuesday. #LetsDoThis #GoBeavers

THANK YOU: It's Teacher Appreciation Week. For all the long days, for the thoughtful conversations, for the flat-out fun, for the enduring above-and-beyond effort, and for repeatedly giving more than you thought you had, an entire community is grateful. Thanks, Beaverton Teachers. #BeavertonAlways

THERE SHE GOES: It was a bittersweet scene Thursday afternoon as students and staff lined the halls to bid farewell to Candy Fischer, who said goodbye to Beaverton Schools after more than 30 years of service. Candy affected the lives of innumerable kids in her time with us, including as a recess aide, special and general education paraprofessional and school secretary. Students knew her as a friend and a confidant - somebody they could really talk to. Our loss certainly is Clare-Gladwin RESD's gain as she begins her next chapter as the Special Education Department Secretary. Thanks for everything, Mrs. Fischer; you're already missed. But we know in your heart, it's #BeavertonAlways.

Time to CELEBRATE the next step!

Planning for Dual Enrollment for the 25-26 school year? See the attached flier for important information of how to enroll!

INFORMED + ENGAGED: Beaverton Schools continues its I+E Community Forum this week with a focus on what we're calling...The Big Picture. (But don't worry - as usual, we'll talk about other topics as well, and leave plenty of time for Q & A.) Please be sure to attend; every month, people are learning new things they didn't know about the district. That tells us this series is a great idea and that it's working. All interested parties are welcome and we will have childcare available so parents may focus on the meeting. Join us Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the BJSHS Media Center, and please let us know you're attending by scanning the code or visiting https://bit.ly/4hlgQ7G. You can also use the form to offer topics, concerns or questions. #SuccessStartsByShowingUp

THE SOUNDS OF SPRING: Clear your schedule for the evening of April 28 and join us for the BJSHS Spring Concert, set for 7 p.m. that night in the BJSHS gym. The show will feature selections from both the middle school and high school bands. Admission is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted. #GoBeavers #SpringMusic

MISTER HISTORY: If you're in Mr. Collins' first-grade class and you're doing project-based learning on the origins of your hometown, there's nobody better to bring in than Mr. Bob Frei. The kids have been working hard, collecting dates, data and timelines about the history of Beaverton, and Mr. Frei stopped by Monday to lend a bit of his considerable knowledge on the subject. The project will culminate in a presentation to community members May 14 at the BAC from 9 a.m. until noon. Stop by and discover what you didn't know about our town. #GoBeavers #BeavertonAlways

A FEW OF MY FAVORITE WINGS: The annual visit by BES kindergarteners to Dow Gardens' 'Butterflies in Bloom' exhibit is a reliable highlight of every school year. Our kids made the trip Friday and learned all about chrysalises, got hands-on lessons in the different stages of the butterfly's life and, per usual, enjoyed it immensely. #GoBeavers

HEY NOW, YOU'RE AN ALL-STAR: Spring Break pushed it back a bit, but there's no way we're missing the chance to honor the BES Students of the Month for March. The are, l to r, Kylie Johnson, Amelia Horn, Quintin Hall, Kallen Russell, Sawyer Grove, James Credille, Jacob Harding, Raymond Jones and Noah Coppola. Congrats to all, and #GoBeavers.

LINE UP TO SIGN UP: If you've got a four-year-old who's ready to get a jump on school life, come to Beaverton Elementary anytime and we'll walk you through the process of signing up for FREE Pre-Kindergarten at BES. Start your child's school career the right way by joining us at Beaverton Elementary. Call 989.246.3020 or just stop by the BES office to sign up today. And #GoBeavers.

FREE PRE-K! ENROLL TODAY! If you've got a youngster who turns four years old before Dec. 2, now's the time to sign up for FREE pre-kindergarten at Beaverton Elementary. The benefits are numerous: BES offers your child a safe, caring environment in the same building with the same friends, teachers and principals that your child will know and love throughout elementary school; instruction five days a week, all day; full transportation to and from home; the chance to learn about taking turns, sharing and getting along; and an early jump on the full kindergarten experience and expectations. Scan the code or head over to ClareGladwinPreschool.org to sign up. #BeavertonAlways

CTE-SSENTIAL INFORMATION: On May 6, voters will be asked to consider renewing the Career & Technical Education millage they originally approved in 2016. Because it's a renewal, passing the request won't increase your taxes - not one bit. That's just one of the crucial facts you need to know before you vote. Here's another: Since that millage was passed, 509 Beaverton students have been taught essential career training in the program. Visit https://tinyurl.com/mu575k5m for CTE facts, figures, FAQs and student success stories. Read Beaverton Superintendent Michael Hugan's letter to the community at https://tinyurl.com/755jb8t9. And please vote May 6. #CTEitsWorking #GoBeavers

INFORMED + ENGAGED: Beaverton Schools continues its I+E Community Forum this week with a focus on student academic data. (But don't worry - as usual, we'll talk about other topics as well, and leave plenty of time for Q & A.) One interesting observation we've made in the first two forums is that people are learning new things they didn't know about the district; that tells us this series is a great idea and that it's working.

THE NAME'S DRIBBLER...COREY THE DRIBBLER: Students got an early look at tonight's BES Reading Month Halftime Show extravaganza with an assembly today from Corey the Dribbler, a man who achieved his dream of joining the Harlem Globetrotters thanks to hard work and...a book. You and your family owe it to yourselves to stop by tonight's event from 5 to 7 p.m. We've got a ton of FREE fun, and it's open to all of humanity. Be there! #GoBeavers

A BOUNCE OF PREVENTION: By Wednesday, we'll be halfway through Reading Month at BES, and we're probably gonna need to catch our breath. So to recharge for the second half, we're hosting the Reading Month Halftime Show. The jewel in the crown will be former Harlem Globetrotter Corey the Dribbler, a baller with an important message. But we'll also have the BES Art Show with student exhibits; Make-and-Take Origami; a Glow Show Reading; and Basketball Skills Stations with Corey and Mr. Fritz. Plus: Snacks! And Drinks! It's going to be a great night of free fun and it's OPEN TO ANYBODY AND EVERYBODY. Join us Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. #ReadingMonth #HalftimeShow

STAR TIME: Put your hands together for the next round of BES Students of the Month, including (l to r) Harper Hayes, Skyler Pierson, Rylee Garvie, Baron Jimenez Silva, Aubree Favel, Marley Shears, Phoebe Byars, Scarlet Butler and Jaxson Defore. Congrats and #GoBeavers!
