FANPLASTIC: Seventh- and eighth-grade Science and STEM students enjoyed a hands-on lab session today led by Elizabeth Egan, an educator from the Society of Plastics Engineers' PlastiVan program. Through lively demonstrations and activities, Egan discussed career opportunities in science and engineering in the plastics industry, with students learning about the chemistry, history, processing, manufacturing and sustainability of plastics and how the science and real-world applications relate to their everyday lives. They also had fun. #GoBeavers

SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS: BJSHS students in Mrs. Sprague's Science and Anatomy classes have come to expect a steady flow of guest lecturers in various areas of expertise. Recently, that group has included CMU Audiology students and specialists in the areas of sports medicine and emergency services from Mid Michigan Health. Beyond hearing from people who know a ton about the units our students are studying, the lectures also offer an excellent level of exposure to careers in those fields. #GoBeavers

ERUPTIVE: Mrs. Woodruff's 7th-grade Science students are learning about plate tectonics, studying divergent and convergent plate boundaries and what happens when thermal energy is introduced. In the lab, they observed the cocoa (Earth's "crust") splitting apart or converging together above the milk's "mantle" and in some cases, the formation of "volcanoes." #GoBeavers
