We’re so proud of our BJSHS English teachers, Mrs. Grice and Ms. Barnes, who went the distance this weekend at the Detroit Free Press Marathon— Ms. Barnes completing the half marathon and Mrs. Grice the full marathon!
They’re showing their students that dedication, perseverance, and grit don’t just happen in the classroom—they happen on the course, too. 💪📚
Way to represent BJSHS and inspire us all to keep pushing toward our goals! #BJSHSProud #RoleModels #HardWorkPaysOff #DetroitFreePressMarathon

LIFE SKILLS, BRUSH THRILLS: We ran the gamut of instruction on BJSHS's west end this morning. On one end of the hall, our guest lecturer, Huntington Bank's Jennifer Harper, delivered essential fiscal knowledge to Personal Finance students, including career considerations and savings options. On the other end, Art students painted the pumpkins that will line the streets of Beaverton to celebrate Halloween. #GoBeavers #Adulting #Community

FIELD TRIP CAREER TIP: Our 10th-graders took a ride to SVSU today to take part in MiCareerQuest, offering students the opportunity to learn about careers in our region's high-demand industries through interactive experiences with local employers, which included Saint-Gobain, BMG and Vantage - an important chance to help kids consider what comes after graduation. #GoBeavers #MiCareerQuestMiddleMichigan

JUST LIKE OLDEN DAYS: It wasn't exactly trudging to school five miles uphill both directions in four feet of snow, but Beaverton's young people got a glimpse this morning at how it used to be. Taking part in International Walk & Roll to School Day, about 100 students and volunteers trekked from the Lions Club on Saginaw Street to BES and BJSHS. The K-12 event is intended to expose students to the advantages of walking or riding to school - an opportunity for regular, healthy physical activity and making connections to their community neighborhoods. Today's walkers today met up with students who ride the bus at the north end of campus and they all walked or rolled to school together. #WalkOn #GoBeavers

GROUP PROJECT: Beaverton Schools will participate in International Walk and Roll to School Day on Oct. 8. The globe-spanning event began in the U.S. in 1997 and includes participants from all 50 states and 40 countries; it was established by a national alliance of public and private organizations committed to making walking safer, easier and more enjoyable.
On the morning of Oct. 8, participating Beaverton K-12 students will convene in one of two locations to take part. Self-transporting families (non-bus riders) will gather at the Beaverton Lions Club at 142 Saginaw Street. Community members, city employees and school staff will walk with students to school. Please arrive no later than 7:30 a.m. Meanwhile, bus riders will be dropped off at the BCAP Pickleball Courts on Tonkin Street. From there, students and students and staff will walk to school together.
Please note: If you self-transport your BES student and he or she is not participating in the walk, please be advised that the Tonkin Street campus entrance will be closed to traffic for the event and you’ll need to use the M-18 entrance near the Central Office to drop off your BES students.
Participating families must fill out our quick-and-easy online permission slip at bit.ly/46MZ7Dz or by scanning the code. Please complete this as soon as possible. We want to thank you in advance for your participation in this fun and important school/community event. Please don’t hesitate to contact Kara Pahl with any questions at kpahl@beavertonschools.net or 989.246.3020.

THERE GOES THE PARADE: Before you check out the game (kicking off at 7 p.m.), here's a look at this evening's parade. You can view the full gallery at http://bit.ly/4nK6L7e. #Homecoming #BeavertonAlways

IT ALL ROYALS DOWN TO THIS: We've got a homecoming queen and king. As announced at today's assembly, meet your 2025 BHS Homecoming Royalty: Queen Alivia Harrell and King Gage Spencer. Congrats to these two and the entire court and be sure to catch them tonight in the parade at 5 p.m. and at the game at 7 p.m. #Homecoming #BeavertonAlways

THEY'VE GROWN SO TALL: Former BES students wearing their Beaver gear collided with current BES students wearing their Beaver gear this morning as the Varsity and JV football teams met students at the door and attempted to break the all-time high-five record. (Results are pending.) As is the case every year, smiles ruled the day, and why not? It's #Homecoming #GoBeavers #BeavertonAlways

IN CONCLUSION: Here's one last reminder of the schedule for Homecoming Friday. The PTO's Tailgate extravaganza will take place after school in the grassy area near the Metzger Field parking lot . The parade begins at 5 p.m. and kickoff versus Meridian is at 7 p.m., with the introduction of the homecoming court set for halftime. It goes without saying, but that won't stop us from saying it: #GoBeavers #BeavertonAlways

SPIRIT WEEK SERENADE: It's one of our finest traditions: Every year during Spirit Week, the BHS Marching Band ignites the spark of spirit for our elementary students by roaming the BES hallways and playing the beloved fight song at full blast. Always a hit. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/3Fk3byjtZKY . #RahFightWin #BeavertonAlways
