1. The Gladwin County Youth Action Council (GladYAC) is a group of energetic youth from all
over Gladwin County that spend a few hours each month learning about philanthropy.
Students learn to serve their community and meet its challenges by supporting non-profit
youth programs and projects through their grant-making. They learn to serve, and through
serving, they learn to lead. If you would like to learn more about GladYak and how you can
be involved, please go to the library on Today, September 14th during your lunch hour.
2. Homecoming court forms are available to be pick up from Mrs. Hubble and need to be
turned into Mrs.Hubble by Wednesday.
3. If you are a Jr. High student that is interested in taking charge and making decisions for
your class then Student Government is your place to be. Please see Ms. Coughlin for a
form to fill out. This needs to be signed by three of your teachers and brought back to her
by Friday this week. Voting will be held next week.
4. FOOTBALL GAME THIS FRIDAY: In honor of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, this Friday's
football gate proceeds will be donated to the Tunnel2Towers Foundation. The student
section theme has been changed to USA. Students are asked to invite any veteran they
know to attend the game free of charge to be recognized at halftime of this Friday's game.

In honor of the 20th Anniversary of 9/11, the gate proceeds from this Friday’s home varsity football game vs. Meridian will be donated to the Tunnel To Towers Foundation. Veterans are encouraged to attend the game to be recognized at half time. the Quarter finals they beat Dow, and in the final they won 1 and lost 2 to Cass City.

The State of Michigan is asking that every school district to again offer the PSAT to any current 9th to 11th grade student and the SAT to any current 12th grade student. These tests are optional. If you are interested in taking either test, the deadline to turn in your parent signed form or complete the google survey is tomorrow, Monday September 13th. The google survey link is here:

Beavers lose to Clare 42-7 in a hard fought game and in front of a nice home crowd. Thank you to Mid Michigan College for the tailgate and halftime festivities. Bleacher Creatures and the Pep Band provided a great atmosphere.

1. Tuesday Sept 14 th will be a GladYAC meeting during both lunches.
2. Spread awareness, recycle, and go green with the new environmental action club! See Mr.
Hitsman and Stella Govitz for details.
3. Bleacher creature theme for the varsity football game this Friday at 7 o’clock is farmers and
flannels.
4. In addition to Mid Michigan College passing out coupons for free hot dogs from the
concession stand prior to the game, all students at the football game sitting in the end zone
student section bleachers will receive a coupon to A & W for a free root beer float. These
coupons will be passed out after the 3rd quarter of the game.
5. Middle and High School Students interested in wrestling should attend an interest meeting
during lunch today. Get your lunch first, then report to library. Junior High Students should eat
when they normally do and report to library during your lunch free time. --
6. HS Band and Color Guard: Report to the band room by 5 pm this Friday (9/10) to get ready for
the football game!!!

1. Varsity Volleyball game tonight, there is going to be a student section and the theme is White
Out and that we encourage everyone to come out and support in the student section wearing
white.

students that want to be a part of the Leo Club. For those helping, enter pontoon alley from
the northern trail off red oak.
5. VAPOR FREE ZONE POSTER: The vapor free zone poster is available in the cafeteria for
students to sign and pledge for our school to be a vapor free zone. Please note this poster is in
clear camera view, so thank you for being respectful and appropriate in order to avoid serious
consequences.
6. LUNCH TIME IN THE GYM: There is no food or drink allowed in the gym during lunch time.
7. Attention softball players, Northwood is hosting a fall softball camp in September, stop by the
office for a flyer.
8. Students, do you like taking pictures? Do you want to get more involved with the school and
community? Do you have lots of school spirit? Then you should join the yearbook class. This is
an elective during 1st hour. See Mrs. Jorgensen in room 146 or Mrs. Phillips in guidance if you
are interested.

government.

making it a fun end to the first week. Seventh graders will get their ice cream sandwiches for
winning the first yell down during win class this Friday.

1. PARKING LOT ETIQUETTE: Students are asked to not rev up your engines before and after
school in the school parking lot. Thank you for your cooperation.
2. We have a blood drive in the library today. If you are entering the library for any reason today
you must wear a mask. Thank you!
3. Attention softball players, Northwood is hosting a fall softball camp in September, stop by the
office for a flyer.
4. Student handbook form may be dropped off at the office in designated boxes. Parents may
also sign document in their Skyward.
5. To any Juniors/Seniors who want to take a leadership role in Bleacher Creatures please report
to Mr. Colman's room, room 201 during lunch on Today. Who's got it better than us?

6. CROSS COUNTRY: We are in need of more participants for our cross country team. It's a great
way to earn your varsity letter, meet people from different schools and get into shape. See
the office if interested in learning more.
7. DRESS CODE REMINDERS:

covered.

Tessa Wohlschlegel was 4th out of 22 with a time of 23:02.
In the boys varsity race Taj Finney was 11th with 20:35 and Payton Corrigan was 24th with 24:59.
JV Football loses 34-6 vs. Shepherd and Varsity Football travels to Shepherd for a 7:00 kick off.
Varsity Volleyball hosts a quad this Friday at 10:00 am with Central Montcalm, Alma and Ogemaw Heights.

1. FOR THE PEP ASSEMBLY THIS THURSDAY: Each WIN class needs to determine one student to
participate in a student competition. The pep assembly will begin at 2:40.

3. ATHLETES WAITING FOR A PRACTICE TODAY AFTER EARLY RELEASE: May report to the game
room, classroom before the gym, OR to the supervised gym. Students are not to be walking
around the school and should report to one of these 2 locations.
4. There will be a blood drive at the school on Thursday, if you would like to sign up or if you are
in NHS and would like to help recruit, see Elizabeth Hoag in Mr. Wentworth’s WIN for
information.

6. Color Guard: Meet with Mrs. Kintner in the band room during first lunch today (9/1). We are
looking for new members. If you are interested, come down to the band room during 1st

It’s that time of year again! I want to welcome everyone back to school and remind you we start tomorrow. It is a full day of school. We are very excited to have students back in the building.
Any student who has CTE classes, we will have a meeting tomorrow @ 1030am for morning CTE students and again at 12:15pm for afternoon CTE students. Morning CTE students are not required to be at school until 10:30am and Afternoon CTE students can leave after the 12:15 meeting.
Finally, if you were unable to pick up your chromebook, it will be available tomorrow at school, but you must have a guardian and student signed form before it will be issued. Forms are available at the school office and on our website.
