NEW LEARNERS UNITE! We used to call it Kindergarten Roundup, but that really doesn't begin to explain how much we offer and how far it reaches. Whether your youngster is ready for Preschool, Young Fives or Kindergarten, join us Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. at BES for New Learners Info Night. We'll discuss everything you need to know and do to join our happy BES family as well as tour the building and answer all questions. (And if you want to go ahead and just enroll your child of any age right now, that's fine as well - go to beavertonschools.net/enroll to get started.) #TheFutureIsBright #GoBeavers

Count day, February 14, 2024, is an important occasion for our school as it helps us accurately account for attendance ensuring that we receive the necessary resources to support our students’ education effectively. To celebrate this day and to express our gratitude for the dedication of our students and staff, Chartwells has generously offered to provide cookies to everyone! We believe that this small gesture will not only add a touch of sweetness to the day but also serve as a token of appreciation for the hard work and commitment demonstrated by our entire school community. We are immensely grateful to Chartwells for their generosity and continuous support in making our school environment a warm and welcoming place for all. Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. We look forward to celebrating count day together with our delicious cookies!!
Warm Regards, Beaverton Elementary Staff

OUR SECRET SUPERHEROES: It’s National School Counseling Week, and we need all our mental health and academic counselors to know how much they’re appreciated by students, staff and families. At a time when new, difficult challenges seem to arise every day, they do vital work for our kids, and they make our school a better place through their kindness, compassion and understanding. Thanks to Adam Engwis, Victoria Hodge, Nicole Kowalewski, Toni Maybee, Marsha Shields, Makayla Rhine and Misty Johnson. If you see ‘em, thank ‘em for making our kids feel seen, heard and valued. #NSCW24

GATHER ‘ROUND: Beaverton Schools is exploring implementation of the Junior High Model for curriculum and campus realignment, and we’re hosting three community meetings to share the details with stakeholders and gather feedback. HEY, SWEET! BPA students are selling Snicker Grams that can be personalized with a note and delivered to BJSHS or BES students with a full-sized Snickers bar on Valentine’s Day. Families and the community are invited to join in the fun - you can place your order at tinyurl.com/bdfh44rs or scan the code below. Cost is $2 cash or $2.20 with a payment card.

A WORTHY CAUSE: Please join us for Thursday night's boys basketball games versus Pinconning in support of Coaches Vs. Cancer, coordinated by the Beaverton chapter of the National Honor Society. Proceeds from personal donations and student ticket sales will benefit 2020 BHS grad Ashley Jernigan, whose fight with cancer is detailed here: https://bit.ly/3SityJr. Business donations will go to the American Cancer Society. Please give what you can to help. #CoachesVsCancer #BeavertonAlways

HAT TRICK: There was plenty of Beaverton sweat poured into last weekend's Gladiators youth hockey district, which saw the area 10U, 12U and 14U teams sweeping their way to the state tournament. Beaverton players include Weston Eagan, Blake Simpson, Gunner Sarles, Danielle Cornell, Peyton Card, Corbin Harris, Hunter Eagan, Cameron Oard and Parker Woods. Great job and good luck moving on.

AN IMPORTANT OPPORTUNITY: This Wednesday at 8 p.m., Beaverton Schools is partnering with Parent Guidance to give you a no-cost chance to Ask A Therapist. Got burning questions about parenting, relationships or your child's well-being? Submit them anonymously for a live session where a skilled therapist will provide thoughtful, personalized answers to as many questions as possible. GRIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT: There's an unusual (some might even say uncomfortable) amount of blue roaming our halls this morning, but that's okay - it's Honolulu Blue. Beaverton staff and students are all in on those hard-hitting Detroit Lions and they aren't shy about showing it. Can't believe we have to wait six whole days for the next win.

STAR TIME: Congrats to the fine young folks who comprise the BES Students of the Month for December. They are, l to r: Ryker Brubaker, Jace Johnson, Tucker Blades, Brantley Luebbert, Wyatt Budry, Hazel Marshall, Karsen Keller and Kylie Johnson. Not pictured: TJ Corkins.

VOLUNTEER VITTLES: Every couple weeks, members of the BJSHS chapter of the National Honor Society gather in the cafeteria and package food for Beaverton students who need it. Weekends and days off are tough on some families' food supplies, and the NHS Backpack program helps those kids get through those times until they return to school. Food is supplied by Chartwells. #BeavertonCares #NHS

BORN TO RUN: Big doings at BJSHS today as Senior Tessa Wohlschlegel signed her letter of intent to run at Ferris State University this fall. Tessa - the school's cross country ladies' record holder, state finalist and academic standout - was joined by her parents, Coach Nicki Walters, family and friends for the event. (And her consecutive day running streak stands at 1,258, so yeah, she'll be running later today.) Congrats to Tessa, an absolute lock to succeed in life. #BeavertonAlways

TEACHERS AND WOULD-BE TEACHERS: Beaverton is a regional host in conjunction with several local and state partners for a “Want to be a Teacher?” event aimed at people who are considering this essential career. Whether you’re a current teacher who wants to expand your repertoire or someone who’s entertaining the idea of entering the field, join us at BJSHS Jan. 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. to find out what it takes. Several other virtual and in-person options are available for the meeting as well. Register by visiting bit.ly/4akjZ4I or calling 989.386.8625. The session is free; light snacks will be offered. #GoTeachers

GRATEFUL: On Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, we want to thank all of the local folks in blue, none more than Beaverton P.D. Officers Doyle and Cingano, who help keep our campus secure and our kids safe as our School Resource Officers. Whether they're teaching safety lessons in classrooms, conducting home visits or keeping the peace in the hallways, our SROs do an essential job, and they do it very well. Thank you for all you do for our kids every day, officers. #Appreciation #GoBeavers

'UNSUNG HEROES': It's School Board Recognition Month, and we want to acknowledge the often-difficult and unheralded-yet-essential work done by the Beaverton Board of Education. Check out the full story here: https://bit.ly/48ERD3u. Heartfelt thanks to you all. #GoBeavers

PEACE: This holiday season, try to slow down. Relax. Enjoy your loved ones. And...
