It's Scholastic Book Fair time! From Monday, Sept. 30 - Friday, Oct. 4, students will get the chance to shop for brand new books! Every purchase benefits our school. https://www.scholastic.com/bf/beavertonelementaryschool1

GIVE THE BAND A HAND: We can’t let Homecoming fade too far into the rearview without recognizing the outstanding showing by the BHS Marching Band - present and past, current and alumni, one-timers and all-timers. We mean it. You pulled together under a steady confluence of impossible circumstances and made your school and community proud, and you’ll never know what it meant to have you represent the B the way you did Friday night. Thank you. #BeavertonAlways #SmallButMighty

PARADING AROUND: Before it rained for the first time since who knows when (really, Mother Nature?), we all enjoyed a lovely parade this afternoon. While you're waiting for the game to begin with its weather-delayed 7:50 p.m. start, enjoy our full photo gallery at www.beavertonschools.net/hoco24 and #GoBeavers.

BEAVERS ASSEMBLE: If you're of the opinion that kids should have fun, today's Homecoming Assembly should've put a smile on your face. Between the coronation of Bryar Pollard and Lincoln Stoike as the respective Queen and King, the madcap modified game of musical chairs and the lung-shredding yell-down, it was nothing but F-U-N. More to come, but here's a look at today's action. And oh yeah: #GoBeavers #HOCO24

RED-HANDED: The high-fives were flying this morning as elementary students got a front-door greeting from Varsity and JV football players who encouraged the youngsters to join in the after-school Homecoming festivities and fun. They might've also mentioned something about #GoBeavers. #HOCO24

WHO WON? HUMANKIND, THAT'S WHO! Spirit Week is building strong toward tomorrow's Homecoming Parade and Game, but today's first-ever Powderpuff Volleyball showdown between Team Fly (varsity volleyball) and the Mud Dogs (varsity football) was an excellent warm-up as, shall we say...a contrast in styles. You can catch a replay of the match and see who came out ahead on the scoreboard at t.ly/H3uIj, but rest assured players and fans alike had a great time and one clear winner was the Student Government Association, which sold tickets as a fundraiser. #GoBeavers

PROGRAMMING ALERT: Join us LIVE today at 11:30 a.m. on the Beaverton Schools YouTube channel for the Powderpuff showdown between the volleyball and football teams. It's no holds barred for Spirit Week bragging rights, so tune in at https://t.ly/THbHA and catch all the action, and, of course, #GoBeavers.

WE'VE GOT SPIRIT, YES WE DO: Post Malone and a Traffic Cone. A Construction Worker and a Subway Surfer. As Homecoming Fever reached its midway point Wednesday, student creativity climbed to a new peak on Rhyme Without Reason Day. Check out our full gallery and take the quiz at beavertonschools.net/hoco24 and see if you can match the theme with the players in the photos. #GoBeavers #HOCO24

THE SPIRIT IS STRONG: Spirit Week is alive and well and making a serious impact on fashion in Beaverton. At BJSHS this morning, the halls swelled with every imaginable sports team's colors and designs for Jersey Day. Meanwhile, BES students took those of us old enough to remember Olivia Newton John and headbands on a nostalgia-fueled trip through Workout Day. #LegWarmers #GoBeavers

TRYIN' TO MAKE HIS WAY HOME: Join the Class of '27 Saturday night at Metzger Field for Movie Night. The fundraiser will feature food, fun and a feature film about a dude trying to phone home - "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial" on the big screen. Tailgating begins at 7 p.m. and the show follows at 8. Proceeds benefit the sophomore class. Obviously, this is a #GoBeavers situation.

We can't wait to see you!

HOCO NEED-TO-KNOW: With Homecoming fast approaching on Sept. 20, there's lots to know, so here we go. The theme is Hollywood Movies and the parade lines up at 4 p.m. at BES for a 5 p.m. start; enter from the M-18 south entrance. A community tailgate will follow in the stadium parking lot. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Questions? Want to participate or help? Contact Erica Sprague at esprague@beavertonschools.net. Your Homecoming Court consists of freshmen Lily Avila and Eric Sherman; sophomores Isabelle Dodman and Christian Burgess; juniors Hope VanTiem and Jake Wolfe; and seniors Miranda Hess, David Abreu, Kara Perras, Lincoln Stoike, Bryar Pollard and Payton Corrigan. It goes without saying, but #GoBeavers.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS: Showing up prepares you to succeed. Skipping out prepares you to struggle.

ICE, ICE BABY: The designation of 'local heroes' kind of comes with the job description for Beaverton Firefighters Phil Andrist and Ryan Tworek. But these true friends of Beaverton Elementary took their popularity to a whole new level today when they brought their truck to BES and started handing out Sno-Cones to every student on the playground. These dudes are just plain clutch, and the community is lucky to have them. Thanks, guys. #SnoBeavers

WHAT, ALREADY?! It's hard to imagine only a week into the school year and with the mercury pushing north of 90 degrees(!) today, but Homecoming Week is a scant 21 days away. (Indeed, students begin deciding on the court this week.) Want to make sure you're appropriately geared for Sept. 20's festivities? Head on over to the Beaverton HOCO Spirit Store for a variety of t-shirts and hoodies for the big week; you can also place an order at Create-It in town. Proceeds will benefit the BJSHS Student Government Association, the deadline to order is Sept. 10 at bit.ly/4dB09Ul and #GoBeavers.

COLOR PARADE: It took until Day Four of the school year, but Mrs. Dubbs couldn't hold off her fifth-graders any longer. The art students broke out the water colors and let loose with the splash and flash. As usual, it was a great day to be a Beaver. #vanGoghBeavers

BALLS AND STRIKES: Times have changed, but Phys Ed at BES still involves jumping jacks and push-ups and laps around the gym. But Mrs. Downey's class also features popular attractions like this morning's dodgeball/bowling mash-up known as Knock 'Em Down. Kids defended their own pins while trying to take the opposing team's pins down, and the only guarantee was F-U-N. #GoBeavers

YOUR BIG CHANCE: It's hard to enjoy sports without concessions, right? Well, it's also hard to provide concessions without volunteers. So the Beaverton Sports Boosters is asking friends, fans and family of BJSHS and BES sports to step up and take a turn behind the concession counter this year, and they've made it easier than ever to sign up. Just visit bit.ly/3WQkVrP to choose your sport and date. And thanks. Community spirit is what makes this place special. #GoBeavers
