Summer Math Challenge Kicks Off on June 21st!
Register at: hub.lexile.com/smc
Elementary Parents - The Summer Math Challenge lasts for six weeks. The challenge focuses on only one math concept per week, so your child will remain sharp but not feel overburdened during the summer. From June 21st through July 30th (six-weeks) parents and/or students will receive daily emails with fun activities and links to educational resources. Prizes for participation will be given out next Fall!

As part of a writing assignment in Mrs. Kaplan's class, students were to complete a poem that encompassed nature and water (to go along with what they were studying). One 6th grade student chose to write a poem about a personal experience of hers. This specific poem captures the emotions that were felt within the community on the day the flooding began: one year ago today. Compliments to Sayde Woodruff, author of "Once Upon A Sad Shore".

We are thankful for our school DARE program led by Deputy Johnson of the Gladwin County Police Department. This has been a great way to educate our students on how to make safe and healthy decisions that impact their lives. As a wrap-up to the program, all students participate in an essay competition that describes the most impactful topic that was taught to them throughout the course of the program. This year, while there were many great essays to choose from, the essays wrote by Ben Reader and Izzy Dodman stood out among the group! Thank you again to the teachers, Deputy Johnson, and the students for another successful year with the DARE program.

The Summer Lunch Bunch program is being offered to students enrolled in Beaverton and Gladwin schools. Bundles will be delivered to the homes and include items such as lunch & a snack, fun activities, a Bible story, and chances to win prizes. If interested, please view the attached forms. Contact information is provided on the bottom of the Summer Lunch Bunch flyer.

Here's a little snip-it of what our 5th grade classes have been working on in their STEM class. With the assistance of Mrs. Wohlschlegel the students in Mrs. Rise's class created an animation project that we would like to share with you!
