IT'S ALL UPSTREAM FROM HERE: Fourth-graders wrapped up a project they began in November - raising a batch of salmon from eggs to alevins to fry to parr - and this morning they turned them loose. The class released their young salmon into the wild at Michigan's Singing Bridge north of Au Gres. Beaverton Elementary School is proud to announce its Students of the Month for March. These students were selected by teachers for excellence in the classroom, leadership among their peers and an enthusiastic ambition that inspires others. LET'S GO TO THE HOP: The Fabulous Fifties are back for one night only as the Beaverton Elementary PTO hosts the BES Sock Hop Wednesday, March 18 at the BES Gym from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The family event is for students in preschool through fifth grade; all students must be accompanied by an adult. We'll have concessions, limbo, hula hoops, hopscotch and a photo booth, plus a prize for the best-dressed attendee. Not to be missed. #GreaseIsTheWord
THE ROAD IS AN OPEN BOOK: Wednesday's Family Reading Night at BES drew a great crowd of kids and parents. The keynote attraction was storyteller George Mauer, who's ridden his bike across the globe in the fight against cancer.
