During this unprecedented public health emergency, Beaverton Schools district has been following the guidance of the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services and the Central Michigan Health Department. As we continue planning for the 2020-2021 school year, it's important for us to hear from you. We invite you to take a few minutes to complete this parent/guardian survey to help guide our planning to safely reopen schools during this public health emergency. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1pneGX326bqZ89g4z81aTgI5U9At4Vs4TAURNu6e3_pw/edit?ts=5f05f903 As part of the MI Safe Schools Return to School Roadmap, Beaverton Schools has developed a committee of stakeholders to assist in the development and revision of our Return To Learn Plan. This committee will be discussing the critical components that will be necessary to ensure success of learning within our district while ensuring the health and safety of our students and staff. We want everyone to be aware that we will have an option for our families if they choose a distance learning option. We have partnered with Founders Academy to offer a distance learning option for our families. More information to follow. We look forward to hearing from you. #GoBeavers

Class of 2020
We have some changes to our Class of 2020 Commencement ceremony. Our commencement plans are impacted by the different phases of the governor's reopening plan. Gladwin County is part of Region 4 and our region is currently listed in Phase 4 of the reopening plan. We plead with everyone to please be understanding. We waited as long as possible before finalizing these decisions.

To the Beaverton community, Late Tuesday, Governor Gretchen Whitmer released the MI Safe Schools Return to Schools Roadmap, a 63 page document with comprehensive guidance to help local school districts create plans for in-person learning this fall. Additionally, Governor Whitmer announced the signing of Executive Order 2020-142 which provides guidance on developing “Preparedness Plans”. The MI Safe Schools Return to School Roadmap offers guidelines as to the types of safety protocols that will be required or recommended at each phase. The safety protocols detailed in the Roadmap includes guidance on the use of personal protection equipment (PPE), good hygiene, cleaning/disinfecting, spacing in classrooms, screening for symptoms, athletics, and more. The Roadmap also recognizes the impact COVID-19 has had on students’ and educators’ mental health and offers guidance on how schools can address this issue. At the same time, Dr. Michael Rice, Michigan State Superintendent said, “Congress needs to approve additional federal aid so that children’s education is not harmed in a pandemic. This additional federal aid needs to include not simply funding to make up for lost state aid in the pandemic, but also funding to address personal protection equipment and catch-up learning in the pandemic.” Obviously, there’s a lot of information in the roadmap. The administrative team met yesterday morning to begin working on our three different plans. Also, the local superintendents met yesterday to continue dialogue around the implementation of these plans for all districts within this region. All districts are faced with a difficult challenge, yet we are navigating unchartered waters. At this time, we do not have all of the answers, but we are working tirelessly to finalize our plans for the return in the Fall. Respectfully, Joseph Passalacqua The 63 page document can be found below. https://www.michigan.gov/documents/whitmer/MI_Safe_Schools_Roadmap_FINAL_695392_7.pdf
