Good afternoon Beaverton, We understand that the school closure has many individuals concerned and wondering what is happening. Throughout the day, we have been notified of two additional situations that caused us to contact trace more individuals due to exposure to a positive COVID 19 case. We have been in contact with our local health department as it pertains to our situation. After thorough investigation, we have chosen to reopen the schools for Face to Face instruction on Tuesday, November 10, 2020; except for the following classes: Young 5's classroom will be virtual Kindergarten--Mrs. Revis' classroom is virtual 2nd Grade--Mrs. Smith & Mrs. Born classes are virtual All of 7th Grade classes will be offered virtually All classes that are listed as virtual learning are asked to NOT REPORT to school. These classes will have further communication coming from the building principal. If your class is not listed as virtual, then your class will be resuming as normal tomorrow. We understand that this may be an inconvenience for some folks, but we want to continue offering our quality educational programs in a face to face environment as much as possible. Thanks again for your understanding and cooperation.

This afternoon, a Beaverton employee notified us of their positive COVID-19 diagnosis; along with the news that a Beaverton parent tested positive as well and their children were in school. This will cause numerous staff and students to be quarantined for a period of time that is still unknown. We plan to decontaminate the buildings and continue our contact tracing throughout Monday. The schools and/or the Health Department will be notifying which students and staff need to be quarantined. With that being said, Beaverton Schools will be closed on Monday, November 9, 2020. Once again, we plead with the community to keep your children home when they are not feeling well. Parents/guardians are reminded to screen your children daily before sending them to school. We will have more information coming out on Monday with another announcement. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. Staff are expected to report unless you are notified to quarantine.

Friday
For Friday, October 30, 2020, we will be closing Beaverton Elementary for all students. We have a staff member who is considered a "probable" Covid positive case. Once we conducted our contact tracing, we found that we needed to quarantine several other staff members and several students for close contact to that staff member. Elementary staff is expected to report to the building tomorrow, except for those that have been notified differently. The Junior/Senior High School will remain open for Friday. Please take a few moments to read the attached letter from Mr. Passalacqua, Beaverton Superintendent regarding COVID-19. You can find the letter here: https://tinyurl.com/y3xjottx
